Question: Arthrogram on right hip from terrified?
I am going in The Orthopaedic Hospital Oxford for an Arthrogram MRI in March. I am terrified and a big baby, my hip hurts when I put weight on it. Why do I have to have this done? I thought I was going in for a hip replacement, which would be better as they just put you out and then you wake up. Up is there any alternative to this, as my consultant seems clueless as to what is going on. My x-ray showed extensive arthritis in the lower back and right hip. But I cannot carry on with this pain. I am on the point of cancelling K

A likely reason that you have been scheduled for an arthrogram is that a labral tear or impingement is suspected. Go ahead and have the test. It is certainly not "better" if you have the hip replaced when that may not be necessary at this point. A tear can be repaired.
