Question about hand numbness and inability to move index finger?!

Question: Question about hand numbness and inability to move index finger?
So I was brushing my teeth the other night, more vigorously than I intended to, and I didn't realize it, but I was clutching the toothbrush really hard. (I'm right-handed, in case that matters.) Once I was done, I tried to pull my hand away from the toothbrush and my hand remained in the same position, and I couldn't move it. I managed to unpry all my fingers but my index finger, and my whole hand went numb. I couldn't move my index finger for a while, until after the numbness had passed. Is this normal when clutching something really hard, or is it something I should be worried about?
Also, when I stretch my ring finger out and move it down, it snaps straight down instead of gradually lowering. What about this?

Answers:

sounds like tendonitis to me. each finger has a tendon up into the hand and into the arm. if you repeatedly use that hand (fingers) you may have inflammed the tendons. you need a physician to treat it, possibly to start with a medication to decrease the inflammation of the tendon. i currently have the same condition and it does get better. good luck.
