Severe neck, arm and back pain?!

Question: Severe neck, arm and back pain?
Hi all,

My mum has severe pain in the left side of her neck, back and arm. When she moves her neck she gets pins and needles in the left arm/hand. She hasn't had a fall of any kind and can't remember doing anything to hurt it.
I was thinking maybe she got bitten by something?? She has had the pain for days now and doctors gave her valium and really strong pain releivers but neither have helped.
Any ideas what it could be would be much appreciated.

Thanks :D

Sounds like a muscle spasm or pinched nerve. Possible causes
- poor posture - craning the neck to look at something for a prolonged period.
- lifting or carrying something heavy or lifting awkwardly
- sleeping position can cause pain in the neck or cervical spine

There are other causes - arthritis, bursitis, or osteopathic injury, but they are less likely to occur without a medical history or a detectable cause. Bites or toxins are low on the list of probable causes - a bite that painful would probably leave a noticeable welt.

carpal tunnel, sciatica can cause those probs too. also a muscle tear, sprain, or yes she could of been bitten
