Basically, it's Vicodin. Vicodin is a tablet containing a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers.

Some people are seriously really uneducated. I will make it very simple are correct. Hydrocodone is a generic form of regular Vicodin. It is a painkiller which you know. The 5 is how much codeine or pain medicine is in it. The 500mg is how much APAP is in it, APAP= same as tylenol. There is no such painkiller with Ibuprofen in it, I am sure of that, because it would have very bad side effects within your body, codeine and Ibuprofen don't mix together, they can cause death together. So the person below who took 800mg, probably killed a few brain cells. The FDA puts tylenol with the pain medicine so people can't abuse it. If you take more than 4000mg APAP you can overdose.

Now in any given 24hr period of time you can only have 4000mg of tylenol/APAP. So that means you can only have 8 pills every 24hrs. I hope you can see how I got that number. 1 pill =500mg 500mg x 8 = 4000mg APAP. I think that's simple enough for you and 100% correct. I am a Pain Management Therapist. I would not steer you wrong.

Hydrocodone/apap 5/500mg is the generic version of various drugs like: Anexsia, Dolorex Forte, Hycet, Liquicet, Lortab 5/500, Lortab Elixir, Maxidone, Norco, Polygesic, Stagesic, Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Vicodin HP, Xodol, Xodol 5, Zydone (Drugs.com, 2008). Basically, it's a combination of a narcotic, 5mg, and acetaminophen, 500mg that's commonly used to treat chronic pain. I used to take this medication years ago with 800mg ibuprofen and the side effects aren't fun. If you can find a non-narcotic alternative, such as ibuprofen, or learn how to deal with the pain, your liver will thank you. :-)

First off, it's 5mg hydro and 500 apap. 500mg of hydro is death, no q about it. second, this is vicodin, best known as hydrocodone. an opiate analgesic/pain reliever. this is a prescription medication that's widely abused, part of the reason many people who need it have to search for good docs so they can get adequate pain relief. if it's not yours put it down..
