Why am I not feeling any pain after a toenail removal?!

Question: Why am I not feeling any pain after a toenail removal?
I just think it's kinda odd. The doctor told me it'd hurt for sometime after the procedure, but all I've felt so far is a bit of discomfort. The nail was removed because of a pretty nasty infection around it.

I had a toenail removed when I was 13 for a really badly infected ingrown toenail. I had been told the doctor would numb the toe, then he would snip off the corner of the toenail so it could grow out right. But what he did was to just grab the whole toenail with a pliers and pull it right off. I was totally shocked, but it came off a lot easier than I would have thought.

And it wasn't as painful afterwards as I thought. The inflammation from the infection went away and it wasn't even red after that.

Well, I guess that answers your question, but there's more to this story! So I'll go on. (You can stop here if you want.)

The toenail grew back very thick, with ridges. It looked really ugly. The doctor said that the root of the nail had been infected, and it would never look 'normal' again. But in college I had a motorcycle accident and that same toenail got caught in my leather boot. That jarred it loose, and it fell off again. No more painful than last time. But this time the nail grew back smooth and perfect! Go figure.

You don't say when the procedure was, but my guess is that your toe is still numb from the local anesthetic.
