Mother treated twice for UTI is now peeing blood with pain in flank area?!

Question: Mother treated twice for UTI is now peeing blood with pain in flank area?
Has been to the doctor twice put on 2 different antibiotics, the PA treated her as if her pain was nonsense and she was just after pain meds, even though she tested positive for a UTI. now she is peeing blood and having severe flank pain. She is waiting for her medicare card as she is disabled and to scared to go back to that mean PA and we are waiting to find her a "REAL" doctor (a new primary). She has had kidney stones in the past, also. She also has allot of protein in her urine every time she gives them a sample. As a daughter I can not stand to see my poor mother like this, any advise would be helpful. Thank you

There are several possible causes of persistent protein in urine, among them diabetes, kidney disease or disease of the urinary tract, high blood pressure, overuse of some drugs, heart disease and heart failure.

Here's a page that describes causes of blood in the urine. Kidney stones can account for it but there are many other possibilities.

Bottom line: make her an appointment with a different doctor if she isn't satisfied with her current one. Don't wait too long.

kidney problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get tested.
