i burned my hand this morning with hot water and it is still unbearable if out o!

Question: I burned my hand this morning with hot water and it is still unbearable if out of water tonight?
holding tea in styrofoam cup and my cell phone rang. i tried to answer and the hot water spilled all over hand. i think i was slow to react and walked slowly to the bathroom to rinse ma hand. all day, for 10 hors now i've had to have it in a bucket of cold water or becomes unbearable. on medical hotline she said it's a good second degree burn. it's 9pm where i am and i'm beat. i have the option of having a visit from doctor for 50 euros or going to emergency (covered by insurance) or both. can they do anything that a doctor cant do? almost every time i've been to emergency, they make me wait 3 ti 6 hours and say it's not serious, so not too motivated. thanks for answer from anyone who has medical knowledge.

Answers:

For a second degree burn, I'd say it isn't worth going to the emergency room. They'll advise you to keep it clean and dry after you soak it, and not to burst any blisters that may have formed. I'll repeat this, DO NOT POP ANY BLISTERS THAT FORM. Don't put any home remedies on it, (ie: butter, oils,) you can put aloe around the area of the blisters if you have too, but the cleaner the area is, the faster it will heal. You may take medicine for pain or to bring down the swelling if you want. If the blisters pop, you can lightly wrap your hand in a clean dressing to protect from infection. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm an EMT.
