I have a migraine on one side of my head...?!

Question: I have a migraine on one side of my head...?
I have been having a migraine on one side of my head, took some advil but it's still there. Shortly after I started having the migraine I threw up, and have been experiencing waves of nausea. That was about two hours ago, and now I have what seems to be heart burn.
What's wrong with me?

What's wrong with you?

You have a migraine. That's what's wrong with you. A migraine is affects one side of the head that's normal. Vomiting and nausea are also common with migraines. Heartburn can be a side effect of the vomiting.

See your doctor, you need something stronger than the advil.

For me if I take an OTC headache medicine at the very first sign, I can prevent from getting a migraine, but once the migraine is in full swing, no OTC medication will help.

Migraines are caused by tight neck muscles and if you have tight neck muscles on just one side you will get the migraine on just one side. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull on the muscles going around your head and when they go into pain you have your migraine. To get rid of the migraine you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

If you haven't ever been diagnosed with migraine headaches, then it might not be. A headache on one side of your head could be a cluster headache. The Advil might have upset your stomach, especially if you took it on an empty stomach.

I'd suggest you call your doctor. Your doctor can try an oral medication for you right in the office and wait about 15-20 minutes to see if your headache goes away. If it does, it most likely is a migraine. Either way, you really should let your doctor know what's going on - to be on the safe side.

Good luck
