Why am I always so tired, dizzy, and not being able to focus well all the time e!

Question: Why am I always so tired, dizzy, and not being able to focus well all the time even after a full night sleep?
I eat pretty healthy, get on an average 8 hrs. of good solid sleep a night, and I am a healthy (no major problems) 18 year old girl. But yet when I wake up, I am still tired and am yawning all morning and afternoon, and by the evening I feel like passing out falling asleep. Also when I am in class and trying to do homework I can not focus well and feel like skipping around and getting up and doing stuff, almost like I can not keep my mind focused on one thing for more than a half hour, and that's pushing it. This has been going on for well over a month now and I am starting to wonder if something is wrong with me. Any thoughts or suggestions are well appreciated.

Thanks in advanced!

I would suggest getting a simple blood test done at your doctors office. It can be common for women to be anemic at times due to the menstruation. Being anemic is when you don't have enoug iron your blood so the cells are weak and can't carry enough oxygen to your muscles. This will also cause the yawning because of the lack of O2

Since you are having focusing issues I'd also suggest asking about your B12 levels. This comes from food like eggs, shellfish, fish, and other meats. Rarely found in vegetables, but can be found in Eggo waffles and fortified cereals. Not having enough B12 will affect your mental capacity. You might feel forgetful, or like you can't understand something that you feel like you should, or could have before.

I'd check those first before jumping straight to depression. If you are functioning normally in every other aspect then I'd look at that after.

I have both deficiencies, and just had a long convo with my doctor about them.

you might not know it but you sound like you might be depressed. no joke haha, or just bored. but mainly I bet you if you start running daily and exersize more you will find your energy lifted immensely, when i joined track last year it was amazing what endorphines do for your body and your mind.

When I was 18 I had an episode of depression and anxiety - Sounds a lot like you're describing. I went to my doc, went on an SSRI for a year and now I'm good! But just go to your doc - Tell him exactly how you're feeling - He can do more than any of us can and it definitely can't hurt!

Obviously I can't give you a diagnosis but based on what you said it is potentially something Medical that requires a Physical Examination. You listed the symptoms Dizzy and Fatigued (Tired); I wouldn't say get checked out on Fatigue alone but since you are experiencing Dizziness and the symptoms are acute (only a month apparently) that indicates something that requires analysis by your doctor. No need to run to the ER, just make an appointment and keep an eye open for any new symptoms.
