Lancing an infected finger?!

Question: Lancing an infected finger?
About 3 days ago, I went to the doctor to get an infected finger looked at. He lanced it, it hurt like a b****, and gave me a topical antibiotic. The incision he made has healed, but somehow, the area he lanced has gotten MUCH worse. I'm going to get a family member to lance it tonight, in about an hour because it's got some SERIOUS pressure build up (I assume it's pus). It's also Friday night and all the doctors in the area are closed. The pain is getting reasonably bad. I started taking the (if needed) oral antibiotic he gave me called Cephalexin (500 mg dosage), 4 times a day since last night. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice for pre and post lancing to ensure it's clean and WON'T have to be lanced again.

There is no way to be sure it won't have to be lanced again. Infected fingers can give a lot of trouble. I don't know where you live but you might be able to access a 24 hour health help line. If so, call them and the nurses there will be able to give you advice about what to do. You might get help here.
