3 weeks post ACL surgery. Am I behind schedule? ?!

Question: 3 weeks post ACL surgery. Am I behind schedule? ?
I know everyone is different. We all heal differently. But I feel I'm way behind on the "time line" of my recovery.
I'm three weeks post surgery. I had a hamstring graph. I can bend my knee to 90 degrees. I do not have full rotation. In PT today I tried the bike. It was so painful it made my eyes water. I still have a lot of swelling and numbness in areas. And I'm super emotional. What's with that? I have heard that this is a very emotional injury. I'm a 31 year old wife and mother. Before this injury I was very active. Golf. Running. Biking. But not anymore. Please give me your thoughts. Thank you so much!

i had the same thing but no surgery. It took me a good 1year to recover. did you have a strap like device you had to wear so your leg wouldnt sway? I did and yes it hurt. I was glad that cast came off! I could finally scratch! Lol no honestly i rather break a bone anyday than to hear a ligament or tendon. It takes so long to heal. But what made matters worse i developed aurthritis in my leg. The pain flares up from time to time. And i now walk with a limp. so it does take time to heal. You will be ok. Chances are you will heal faster than me. Cause you do not have aurthritis. Zapatha123@yahoo.com

The timeline of other people can be very tough since like you said everyone is different and everyones surgical procedure was also different.

I have had 2 ACL surgeries and even doing the same procedure for the same injury on the same person has resulted in different recovery timelines.

Being able to bike, even if its painful, at week 3 is good. If you are able to walk in the first month then there usually isnt a problem. It seems that if you arent able to walk without crutches after 1 month then there may be a problem but it sounds like you are doing ok. I am sure if your physio is concerned he/she will let you know.

Here is the recovery timeline I am trying to stick to - http://www.aclsurgeryrecovery.net/acl-su…
