I fell down the stairs and landed slightly below my kneecap. It still hurts 3 mo!

Question: I fell down the stairs and landed slightly below my kneecap. It still hurts 3 months later?
I slipped and fell down four stairs and landed on one knee, with the edge of a stair hitting me right below my kneecap. Not much black and blue. It was sore to walk for a few days, but became fine to walk quickly. However, its 3 months later and i still cannot kneel down on that knee. When I push on my skin it hurts and feels kind of like thousands of needles. This is not directly on my knee, just an inch below my kneecap.
what may I have done to it to make so Ii still can't kneel on it 3 months later??
again, it doesnt hurt at all with everyday walking, only when pushing directly on the spot.

May be a displaced tendon, or a floating kneecap with chondromalacea patella.

Well my dad dropped something really heavy on his knee so he went to the doctor and he had a torn and hanging manisca. He had a surgery where they sew the manisca back into place and scrapped away the athritus ( dont think i spelt that right) and its 2 weeks later and he idps fully mobile to walk and occasionaly he overdoes itand has 2 ice it cuz it swells but other than tht there is no other problem maybe u should hav a doctor take xrays and c if there is anything there is they can do.
