I hit my forehead about an hour and a half ago...so is it safe to go to sleep or!

Question: I hit my forehead about an hour and a half ago...so is it safe to go to sleep or should i wait a bit?
I'm 16 and about an hour or so ago, I turned a corner in my house a little too sharp and hit the right side of my forehead pretty hard on the corner of a wall where a metal support beam's behind it. My forehead hurts a little where i hit it but so far I feel ok other than that I think. I'm tired but that might just be because it's already past midnight where I live. Is it safe for me to go to sleep yet or should i stay up a little longer to make sure I dont have a concussion or something? I heard that sometimes it takes awhile for symptoms to show up but...i dont know. I'm probably overreacting some but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thank you for reading. :)

I am getting this information from a WebMD.com article on Concussions: Rest is always a good thing for people with a concussion. However, you should only do so if you are not exhibiting serious symptoms (Dizziness, fainting, nausea/vomiting, difficulty moving arms/legs, memory problems/confusion, ear or nose bleeds, etc.) You may sleep if someone can watch you and awaken you every few hours over the next 12.

When they do, they need to make sure you're not exhibiting any of those above symptoms, or any of these: Convulsions, stiff neck, incoherent speech, excessive sleepiness, one pupil larger than the other, headache that is getting worse. Also, as ridiculous as you may feel being asked, and as ridiculous as they may feel asking, they need to make sure you're aware of "Who?", "Where?" and "When?" EVERY time they check on you over the next 12 hours. (The "Who" meaning "Who are you?" Your response being your full name. The "Where?" being "Where are you?" Your response being City, State if in US, or City, Province, Canada if in Canada, etc. wherever you are. And of course, the "When?" being the date.)

If you start to get worse, have someone drive you to an emergency room or call 911. Otherwise, get some rest and make a regular Dr. appointment (but call tomorrow.)

One last important piece of advice: WebMD.com also said you need to find out from the Dr how long till you heal because if you take another hit to the head (even if it's a small one) it can cause what is called second impact syndrome and may prove fatal. :( Be careful out there! Good luck to you!

Yes, it is ok to stay up awhile. It is even better you can tell someone to look out for you or stay with you in case of emergency.

It is always a must to see a doctor if you have this kind of hot especially if it does not swell.

However if you think you are ok, read some books or someone to sleep with you as extra precaution

Have someone wake you up about every 2 hours and ask you some cohesive questions. If you feel like you have a headache or are nauseous, or have trouble concentrating/thinking clearly, go to the emergency room.

you should be ok to get some shut eye. After the injury if you did not black out, pass out, etc and currently you are not having a headache then you are ok

If you can type all this take a nap.

you should always wait for an hour before you go to sleep just to safe. ::) hope i helped

If you sleep freddy K will get you
