you absolutely can. you just have to make sure you manage your RA and when it starts to act up take a rest DON'T OVERDUE IT. trust me i know i love softball more than anything since i was 5 my planes were to become a pro-softball player (but since i got diagnose with RA when i was 9 i can't do it because i have a very aggressive form of it, not many peoples are as aggressive as mine). but i still stay as competitive as i can but i hae a huge problem with my limits. i keep pushing too much and i have payed a price. more pain and more damage to my joints. so just watch your limits and make sure you do your best at managing you arthritis.

Medical studies show that sports have a beneficial effect on cartilage, even aggressive, intense sports. Cartilage is nourished by activity, and sports can help to maintain healthy cartilage.

For people who have signs of early arthritis, it is critically important to maintain fitness. Patients with early arthritis benefit from weight management and muscular strengthening as these are helpful in minimizing the burden on the joints and relieve the pain from arthritis.

Low-impact activities like swimming, cycling, and walking are the best forms of exercise suited for patients with arthritis. These low-impact exercises are very much helpful in preventing further damage to the joint.

Hi,

I am a physical therapist. Sure you can do sports. You'll have to watch your symptoms. If you have more pain, swelling, and stiffness you'll have to take it easy. I would recommend making sure you are also doing strengthening exercises as strong muscles help to protect joints.

Absolutely. I have R A and I do all sorts of sports. However, it depends on the level of damage you have suffered. There are exercises which are specifically good for arthritis sufferers, and other exercises which you may want to avoid if your disease is advanced.

You definitely can exercise if you have arthritis. You just need to watch how your body reacts to the workout. Just don't force your muscles.
