how did you quit smoking?!

Question: How did you quit smoking?
what method worked for you?

Answers:

I just stopped without any help.... cold turkey without any nicotine gum patches or other BS

It depends on how long you've been smoking, how much, and how determined.

You should start off by setting a quit date, and be firm about it.

You then think about what triggers your desire to smoke, and try to avoid them.
Nicotine supplementation is also a good idea, as quitting cold turkey is difficult and often leads to relapse.

Nicotine supplementation can be provided as a lozenge, a gum, a patch, or inhaler. Nicotine gum is good for controlling instant cravings, and can be purchased at many retail stores. People may complain about their expense, but I always ask them if they can put a price on their lungs.

Last but not least, certain medications are very good at helping you quit smoking. Wellbutrin and Chantix are successful for these purposes. These may have side effects so be sure to check with your Dr.

If you need support or counseling for this, remember that your Dr. is there for you. Goodluck.

Myself - senior medical student.

I quit using e-cigarettes. Then I quit the e-cigs. I started with a medium nicotine strength and stepped it down overtime. I found myself using them less and less until I quit completely.

The FDA has not approved them as a smoking cessation device but I can tell you from experience it worked for me. But like anything you use, you have to first be committed to quitting.

After trying a lot of different ways, I went to the doctor and got Chantix. It's been several years now, but, this last time was a stumble and fall, and get up and walk this last time. So, hang in there.

I started working out really well for a while and I was able to guilt myself in to quitting. It was like why am I trying so hard to get in shape just to kill myself with cigarettes.

I just decided to stop because I thought how silly I was killing myself to make some one else rich!

just stop.dont buy cigarete
