How long would I be out of work with a fractured ankle?!

Question: How long would I be out of work with a fractured ankle?
I fractured my ankle on Thursday, I have never broken a bone before and I'm not sure on how long I will be out of work for...I work in a hospital and I can't have any devices where I work since it's a sterile environment and my job requires to be on your feet, and it is pretty physical...so do you think I will be out of work for probably a minimum of 6 weeks?

I was in your same position and had a cast on for a month. after that month I still had a couple weeks of recovery with a boot. so 5 - 6 weeks. you yourself will know when you are ready for work.

bone takes 8 wks to heal..the doc will even tell you @ least 2 months..going back to work in 6 wks not only puts you in jeopardy, but also your 'clients'...IF you even work for a hospital, they will not let you back to work until the doc has ok'd you & you have written verification of this, including any temporary restrictions he may have to offer...the best person to ask for your return-to-work date is your doc..your human resources dept can help you get back to work...call them...also, your status re: pain meds & ambulatory devices will also put you in restriction for your job...can't work that way;; just take your time getting healed the right way so you CAN get back to work @ an appropriate time..it all depends on YOU...& if you do this the right way..healing, I'm talking about..try getting PT to, it'll help you get on the right track..good luck!!! sorry about your boo-boo!
