I don't think they are swollen but that there is a pressure on the back of them that you are noticing and it seems to get relief when you press into your eyes. The nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head passing right next to the neck muscles for they go to the top of your head for its movements. When the neck muscles are tight they can press into the nerves which gives you a pressure on the back of your eye where the nerve is attached. Pressing onto your eyeball kind of shorts out that pain so it's not felt but comes back when you release the pressure. To get rid of the problem all together you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
You might have a thyroid problem. bulging eyes tend to be a symptom.
Well,1 thing you need to stop doing is...poking around in your eyes. That will make it even worse,so stop doing that.Doesn't matter if you think that pushing, rubbing then pinching makes then feel better,it's making the problem worse. You said your family isn't financially able to take you to the doctor? Then my first piece of advice is to leave your contacts out for about 1 week or so,and wear glasses during that week. And,the second piece of advice...stop poking, pushing and pinching around at your eyes. And,if all that doesn't relieve your pain/symptoms...you really should see your eye doctor.Take care.
