Skiing in 4 weeks..dislocated knee?!
Question: Skiing in 4 weeks..dislocated knee?
I've never skiied, and i was looking forward to it! Any chance I can by March 20?

From the sound of it, you're just getting some basic mobility for your leg and it doesn't appear you're able to move for very long distances without your crutches.
When you're skiing, you're going to be putting alot of your weight on both legs when making your turns. You'll alse need to lift your leg and using your leg muscles with the skis on your feet to move over a flat distance (ie. getting to the ski lift/chair).
Here's the true test (with doctor's approval, of course): If you're able to do several squats up and down without any discomfort in your knee area, you're probably close to 100% healed (at this point, it doesn't sound like you'd be able to perform any squats in your current condition). If you can't do the squats prior to your trip, then it's just not worth it to make your trip and you may even risk further damage to your knee area, resulting in more surgeries and/or rehab time.
My suggestion is to skip the trip. The mountains aren't going anywhere and you'll have plenty of chances to have a great ski experience down the road.
Good luck with your rehab!
it does not sound smart... since you have never skied before you will most likely be falling a lot and putting a lot of strain on your knees. i would wait until the week before and see how you are. if you do it wear the brace.
