what causes sudden lose of hearing?!

Question: What causes sudden lose of hearing?
OK it's the long week-end . No Doctors or Walk In Clinic's are open, don't want to go to the ER and wait till god knows when.
Question: what would cause sudden hearing loss?
I'm female, 61, no colds, flu, virus, no dizziness nothing. Was fine Friday night went to bed had a good nights sleep, woke up Saturday morning couldn't hear out of my left ear, it is now Sunday still can't hear.
Does anyone have a clue on what happened? And NOBODY has to tell me that I'm stupid no to go to the ER. I already know that I am.

You really need to see a physician ASAP!There are many things that can cause a sudden hearing loss. Allergies, infection or a eustachian tube dysfunction can lead to a pressure buildup in your middle ear and give the sensation of reduced hearing and easily be cured with antibiotics and/or antihistamines but typically happen on both sides (But not always)
Sudden hearing loss in one ear is viewed as a red flag for serious disorders such as a tumor, a virus that kills the cochlea or an autoimmune disorder that kills the cochlea and it is VERY IMPORTANT that you see a physician. Early detection in these cases are crucial to treatment and saving residual hearing. Best of luck to you.

Hmmm not sure, but it could be an ear infection. Like you can hear out of it, but feels like it's been plugged.

Or could be that you might just have a lot of ear wax down there or something.

Lots of things can cause hearing loss, tempoary and permanent. From viruses to injury, etc

You may have fluid in your ear canal - even without a cold - Try blowing air back into your ear canal --
Lie down (you might get dizzy) - with the effected ear up - hold your nose and mouth - and "Blow" air back into your sinus cavity - the effected ear may take another breathe or two to open up - if you can hold your breathe for a few seconds - you may "hear" or feel fluid dripping -- (think of doing this like getting catsup out of a bottle - you have to let a little air in the bottle to get the contents to come out) -
If this procedure helps - then take an OTC decongestant for 4-5 days - this should relieve the congestion enough to allow your ear to drain -
I don't think it is an "emergency" - in that it is not life-threatening -- but if the ear doesn't re-open in 5-7 days - or you have severe pain (like ear drum bursting) - or blood from ear -- then see your Dr. -
