I'm getting a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and a surgery to widen my nasal!

Question: I'm getting a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and a surgery to widen my nasal passages. Can you answer my ?s?
Ok, so I will be going and having the before mentioned surgeries. My tonsils are very big, and I have tonsillitis/strep throat at least 12-14 times a year, and that's not counting the times I DON'T go to the doctor to get antibiotics. I've been reading online and there really doesn't seem to be a positive outlook for the weeks following my surgery. I'm not sure what the correct name for the nose surgery is, but my ENT said that he would go in and widen my nasal passages on both sides, and that hopefully it will really help with nasal congestion, runny noses, etc. If you guys could help with some of my questions I'd be very thankful :).
1. Has anyone had all three of these surgeries done at one time? Will it make my recovery time longer or more difficult?

2. What happens on the day of my surgery when I go to the hospital? Basically from when I go in until the time of my surgery.

3. What is it like to wake up in the recovery room? I'm worried that I'll be scared and not know where I am (stupid I know).

4. I am also really worried about the anesthesia making me nauseous, can I ask for anti-nausea medicine so I don't throw up.

5. I've read that once you wake up they try to get you out of the hospital rather quickly, but if I don't feel comfortable leaving just yet would it be a big deal if I told them so?

6. Since I am having it done at a surgical center, if something went wrong, like dehydration or bleeding, would they keep me overnight there or take me to the hospital?

7. This is a weird question, but will I be allowed to wear my underwear at least until surgery?

8. Any tips for post-op. All stories are welcome, positive or not. This is my first surgery and I want to hear from everybody so I know what I can expect. THANK YOU SO MUCH

P.S. I'm 14 if that makes any difference to your advice.

You don't fast for 24 hours you only fast from 12 am. Depending on the time of your surgery. When you get there you will change into a gown. The anesthesiologist will come and see you and will start an IV. They will use some skin numbing solution for the IV. Some Doctors like to use a little sedation before you go into the OR. Usually they will give you something for nausea before you wake up. . But if you throw up they will give you medication in your IV. When I went to the recovery room. I was awake in minutes and was fully orientated. If you will be in a surgery Center they will keep you until you are alert and orientated. If you have any difficulties they will send you to the hospital by ambulance. Not sure about your underwear, you are going to ask the doctor. But I think so. Today, anesthesia is so advanced that many of the drugs are short acting and have very few side effects. Any surgery comes with a risk but you are only 14 so the risk is very little . I had surgery in Sept. I had it done on my neck and was in the OR for six hours. No nausea and was talking by the time I got to my room. The biggest problem is that they put a gauze under your nose for any drippings of blood. It feels like you can't breath. You probably won't feel like eating for a few days. But that is normal. Drink plenty of fluids Make sure to take your pain medication that is part of your healing. About how long it takes to recover depends on you. Everyone is different. Do rest.

Nursing Degree

I had all three of these done last year..
1. Recovery time for me was a bit over 2 weeks
2. On the day of surgery you should have fasted for 24 hours and you'll be given a room and a nurse will come in and take your vitals (weigh you, blood pressure temp etc.) she'll make you change into a hospital gown which you'll have the surgery in, then you'll be given the approx surgery time and you'll have to wait until then
3. It's pretty scary, i woke up and started crying coz i was so confused, i found it was best to just close my eyes until i woke up better, i also vomited, so make sure you tell the nurse if you feel sick but it doesn't take long to get back to normal
4. Anti-Nausea medicine doesn't really do anything, i still felt pretty ill, but it wore off
5. I had to stay overnight and they made me eat breakfast before i left, but if your not comfortable going home, and there's no one to have your bed for the night - they should let you stay
6. If there was an emergency they'd keep you for as long as they needed too, maybe longer then overnight. but i had mine done and i survived, nothing bad will happen :)
7. Yehs, you were underwear under your hospital gown, but no bra.
8. Ice-cream doesn't really help it's hard to swallow coz it kinda coats your mouth and makes it even harder to swallow, it really miserable for the first week coz you feel like you'll never get better, try and eat as much as you can but coz thats how you get better!
Watermelon in really small bits was good for me, i had a lot of trouble openeing my mouth so i had to cut everything up very tiny. Drink lots of freeezing water with ice coz it helps your throat, they gave me panadeine at the hospital to take when i got home but it made me sick so i went back to my doctor and he prescribed me codeine which helped me sleep a lot better!
I got infected in my throat so if you feel like you feel worse then you should make sure you go back to your doctor!!
