Austin made a good point, but that's not the issue now. Like many others have said, you need a tetanus shot. If you've had one in the last 6 years or so then you should be fine as far as that goes. As far as the cut itself. I wouldn't use rubbing alcohol. I'd use hydrogen peroxide instead. The alcohol will end up drying it out and killing a lot more than needs to be killed. Go with the peroxide and it cleans without all the killing of flesh and drying out.

Dirt itself isn't going to harm anything, it's just dirt. If you've cleaned it out as well as you say you have, then you shouldn't get an infection. It's it's small enough and you can manage, just keep it covered and held together so it will heal somewhat back to like it was. and try to stay off it unless you have to. I think you'll be fine. Just in case though I'll keep an eye out in the obituaries for a machete toed infection death lol. Good luck.

You need an anti tetanus shot. You can just wait and see but if it goes wrong then it goes very wrong.

Just look the other way as the doc puts it in.

I hate jags too but the last one never hurt at all...... It's normally the dread that's worse then the actual jag.

The nurses are very nice and make you feel comfortable.

Cleaning you toes would be a great idea. However you need to improve or maintain a healthy diet. Because poor diet could lead to infection.

You need to get a tetanus shot.

How did you walk into a rusted machete?

You NEED a tetanus shot. and prob stitches. go to the ER if nothing else, they can't turn you away.
