Pain in lower back upper butt?!

Question: Pain in lower back upper butt?
Okay so for as long as I can remember, I have had this pain in my lower back but more upper butt area. The pain is like a annoying pinch, i get the pain when I'm standing a long time or just twisting around, but I'm not for certain what exactly causes the pain. I do feel like it is limiting some hip mobility and range of motion. I also feel pain in the groin area as well. It hasn't affected me at all, physically. I am very active, workout regularly at a extreme level. I have been what I think is IT Band Sydrome. So I don't know if that is causing the symptoms. But I don't see why it would be. I'm really confused and I don't want to see a doctor, so please if anyone has any suggestions maybe ideas of what the pain could be from.

your IT band is located on the side of your upper thigh. It connects your hip to your knee. A tight IT band usually causes knee pain. It sounds like your sciatic nerve is possibly being pinched. Go to a chiropractor and get your back adjusted or see a massage therapist or both. Try a heating pad on the problem area for 20 min and stretch.

If you are having problems with your pelvis it could cause the pain in your groin. You have a joint in your groin called the pubic symphysis. Google that word and see if the location of that joint is where your pain is.
But yes you can have pain in your groin from sciatica. It can also limit your mobility.

I am a massage therapist. :)

I don't know what IT Band Syndrome is, but the location you describe the pain is the area of your sciatic nerve. Look it up on WebMD and see if the symptoms match what you have. There are lots of exercises to help alleviate sciatica.

Sciatic nerve pain?
My doctor just makes me stay home from work for a couple days on a hot pad. No lifting. No bending, twisting. Anti inflammatory meds.

sciatica can cause range of motion problems. I would highly suggest seeing a doctor about it.
