Your symptoms sound like perhaps you have a strain of influenza, and that perhaps you have developed "Strep Throat". If you return to the doctor's office, a culture can be done to confirm this. If positive, a specific antibiotic will be prescribed. In the mean time, sucking on small ice cubes can provide some level of relief and comfort.

All I can say is try going to the doctor again, but a different one this time to get another opinion. If it feels like someone has taken a wire brush and scrubbed the back of your throat with it, you could have strep throat. It might be the flu, I've heard it can last 7 to 10 days or even longer. If it's not better in another few days I would definitely go back to the doctor.

First of all, your doctor is a moron for prescribing antibiotics. The flu is caused by a virus, meaning antibiotics won't have any affect...other than messing up your digestive tract. I'm surprised he didn't tell you to take some cough medicine. You should probably take one that'll help loosen up the gunk in your throat/chest so you can get it out of your body.

Otherwise it sounds as though you have the flu. Keep taking the ibuprofen for your aches and fever and use the same cure humans have used for centuries when sick:
* Lots of rest/sleep.
* Hot tea with honey (for your throat)
* Gargle with warm salty water (don't swallow the water - just gargle with it)
* Hot chicken soup.
* Orange juice.

You can also try throat lozenges or throat spray if you find they help.

If your fever doesn't go down in a few days or goes much above 31C you should go back to the doctor as you may have strep throat which IS treatable by antibiotics.

Your neck muscles are tight and pressing into your throat so tight that they are keeping your throat muscles from moving and causing the pains. The muscles are so tight they have even tightened up around your voice box to make it hard to talk. To get rid of this problem you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

No real cures but time, however symptom relievers:

Sip warm tea with honey & lemon.
Make a Hot toddy if you can:
Warm and toasty and just in time for winter, the Hot Toddy is a classic hot drink. Feel free to experiment with your favorite types of tea or skip it all together and use hot water alone. Most black and green teas mix well with the sweetness of the honey and lemon, but from there it's a personal preference and some interesting toddies are possible. There is also a Gin Toddy that is a great variation of this warm cocktail.

Ingredients:

* 1 oz brandy, whiskey or rum
* 1 Tbsp honey
* 1/4 lemon
* 1 cup hot water
* 1 tea bag

Preparation:

1. Coat the bottom of a mug or an Irish coffee glass with honey.
2. Add the liquor and the juice of the lemon quarter.
3. On the side, heat water in a tea kettle and add the tea bag to make hot tea.
4. Pour the steaming tea into the glass and stir.

Best advice it hydrate & rest!
Stay in bed & rest!

Get well soon.

OMG! You sound like you're dying. Well, my throat swells up badly whenever i'm ill - it's just something that happens to everybody when their body's fighting off anything. You may actually be immune to the stuff the doctor gave you, or you may have had a reaction to the ibuprofen and the stuff might have had the opposite effect on you - your throat has become inflammed, instead of the other way round.
I'm no expert, but it looks to me like you're not going to get any better unless you go back to the doctors. Go as soon as possible!

Er...just general knowledge?!
