Go for the appointment, but take the letter. You could even offer to see if the surgeon could call.
The folks @ your job are being jerks, but stick with what your surgeon said.

By the way,what type of surgery did you have? Occupational Health is here to assist your employer in making the right choice for you while you are out on sick leave. The only thing I am going to tell you is that a note stating you are going to be out up to 12 weeks doesn't carry much weight. I have been their, I know, Your notes should be more frequent. This tells them that you are still under the care of the doctor.When you get the note that states that you are fit to work you have to go to Occupational Health not beforehand. Many employers try to use their employers when they are sick.. I have work for the federal government for years and know all the rules. Do have sick leave? Becomes, it is m more of an issue if you don't have sick leave. You are on borrowed time. You need to go above your supervisor. Also, if you have a Union where you work please contact them for help.
