It is possible that it could be a spider bite, but it could be something else. For example it might be a fungal skin infection. It is very difficult to determine the type of bug by the bite. Generally for most spider bites you just treat them as you would any other bug bite. Here are pictures of bug bites and spider bites. You might be able to identify if from the pictures.

The odds of this being a spider bite are about 20,000 to 1 that it is not a spider bite. comon bites that would leave such a welt would not likely go un-noticed,and you would probably caught the vermin in the act. There are many other biting insects,as well as a multitude of skin conditions that may cause your symptoms.

Some sort of bug bite probably. Unless the swelling or redness spreads, you feel feverish, or you get muscle cramping, there's no reason at all to worry.
