I was burned by steam from a teapot?!
Question: I was burned by steam from a teapot?
Answers:
First aid for burns is always cold water and ice packs. Blisters that have opened require washing in antibacterial soap, applying an antibiotic ointment and keeping covered with a bandaid.
Usually, keeping an ice cold pack on the burn overnight will relieve the pain. By morning, most patients feel much better. Always try to err on the side of caution and keep wounds clean and covered. Any changes, such as a greenish discharge is a sign of infection and should be seen by a doctor.
Second degree burns, with blisters, respond to the same treatment. First degree burns are red skin. Stay out of the sun and do not be in a hurry to expose the newly healed skin to the sun.
