Medical Discount Plan
ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services.

Individual & Family Health Plans
This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose.

Short Term Medical Plans
This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months.

You should definitely be seeking the services of an independent agent when selecting a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan. All of the plans are standardized, so the only difference is in the price.

I would caution the questioner above, however.
When you are determined to have a condition that raises a red flag in underwriting (cancer, COPD, other condition) that requires surgery or treatment, you CANNOT switch to a higher benefit plan in order to address it. In order to switch plans, you must again go through underwriting, which you would NOT then pass.

The high deductible Plan F is seldom the best choice and is sold in only about 2% of cases because of that. That plan is typically sold by agents just trying to out-bid another agent based on monthly premium, alone.

Finding the right medicare supplemental insurance is like wading through a mine field, I don't know how the really elderly are able to make the right decision. I ended up with the BlueCross/BlueShield high deductible, it is almost $100 a month less than a lower deductible. The good thing about this plan is that should I know for example that I'll need surgery next month I'm able to switch to a different BC/BS plan.

I was able to get a printout of the different plans from a local drugstore. Call around to find out where you can get one and then start making phone calls to see which plan works for you.

Contact any insurance agent who sells Medicare supplementary insurance. There are different plans and different companies. You can do it by mail or in person to get a good representation of what is available in your state.

You can get quotes from http://www.medicaresupplementcenter.com. There is an office in Texas.
