Foot tattoo!! how to reduce the pain of getting one!?!

I have a tattoo on my foot, and it hurt a lot, but I don't know of anything you can do before hand to reduce the pain. I will say that the closer you get to your toes, the more it hurts. That's part of the experience of getting a tattoo though- and then you can say "hell yeah! I did it!" and show off your new body art. It helped me to have someone talk to me the whole time, because then I wasn't focussed so much on what the artist was doing. Once it's over it doesn't hurt at all.
