Should i go to the doctors - bruised toe?!

Question: Should i go to the doctors - bruised toe?
Ok, so basically i've bruised my toe and i'm not sure whether i should go to the doctors about it or not...

About 3 weeks ago now, i went out for the night and was wearing heels. I can't remember banging my toe or anything happening to it, so i'm guessing it's just the heels were too tight! ... The next day my toes were hurting and i looked at them and they seemed fine so i thought they were just aching from wearing heels. But then the day after that my toe nail gradually turned a blue/purple colour. It took around 2 days before the whole nail turned this colour which i thought was weird? ((I thought this would happen straight away.))

So anyway, i just thought, ok it's a bruised nail, it will heel itself over time and probably fall off eventually. So i just made sure to keep it clean, washed it daily and used antiseptic wipes also to stop it from becoming infected.

FAST FORWARD 3 weeks: The nail is still partially purple/blue.. but around half of the naill has turned white? Not like a normal nail looks... It looks like a dis-coloured white nail - i'd say almost greyish ?!
ALSO, I compared it with the my big toe on my other foot, and i noticed that on my bruised toe nail - below the nail on my toe, where the skin starts, there is a dent!!
(On the toe on my other foot however, there is a bump below the nail - where the skin is before the nail grows - as with all my other toes!) Hopefully you know what part i'm talking about!

On the bruised toe, this bump seems to have pushed up underneath the nail instead and left the dent below. So i'm assuming this is the cause of the bruised nail. BUT what is this then?? What's happened?? Is it a bone that has pushed up underneath the nail?? Is there even a bone there? Or is it the part where the nail grows? Sorry for my lack of knowledge lol!

So yeh if you know what this is and what's happened, please let me know!! :)

And is it worth going to the doctors about it?! Just i don't want to waste their time if it's not.

I'd really appreciate answers from people who have somewhat of a knowledge about this. Thanks in advance :)

Answers:

I have had one of these on my big toe for the past month or so. For the same reason....heels too tight... It never occurred to me to visit a doctor.
