Pain in my lower back for over two weeks now?!

Question: Pain in my lower back for over two weeks now?
I've been having pain in my lower back for over two weeks now, I missed a day of work due to it and went to the doctor. The doctor advised me I just sprained my back (they gave me a pregnancy test and ruled out that as a cause) and to use tylenol and voltaren gel until it gets better.

It's been over two weeks now and I can recognize it comes on strong when I sit. I work in a call centre and sit 8 hours a day, work has become unbearable for me. The clinic I went to won't prescribe pain medication but my regular doctor will. The problem is I can only see him tomorrow at 3 and I work 1-9 and my work has been firing people for missing time lately no matter what the reason.

I was in a car accident in November but believe this is unrelated.

I need some relief, what can I do? I'm asking my boss for a few hours to see the doctor and I'll still finish out my shift and come in for the first part.

I need some help, I'm at my wits end. What exercises can I do to make it go away? I can feel the bone area in my spine where the pain is radiating from it and it wraps around my sides, the bone also feels enlarged when I curl up I can feel it poking out more than the others. I have been using a heating pad and icing it on and off and it's good in the morning until I have to work and start sitting again.

Answers:

Could be a combination of things, after a car accident old injuries may reappear from the shock, and sitting for long periods at a desk doesn't help one bit. as for the accident, it can take a long time to fully recover, and sometimes the pain can seem to come back even months later. Certain movements or body positions (such as sitting, especially if your chair/desk setup is NOT ergonomic) can also aggravate that condition and cause it to come back.

I was also in an accident not too long ago (except the SUV turned in front of us instead, there wasn't enough time for the brakes to do their job) and I still notice recurring tenderness from doing certain things. However in my case it's just tissue damage from the seatbelt. Nothing happened to my back.

I would suggest a hot or cold pack (or both, whichever works). The cold pack should ease pain and the hot pack should loosen tense muscles. Perhaps you should see about massage?

If you're worried about missing work, just tell them you're in severe pain and need to see a doctor immediately. You shouldn't be penalized for that, any workplace should know that emergencies happen. I highly doubt they're firing people for just 'any' reason either, some of those people probably had a longer history than yours.

it sounds to me like your just sitting wrong at work, or it could also be from your accident in novemeber, did u have whip lash during the accident and was it a bad accident? plz respond

kidney problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get tested.

You have a pinched muscle in your back causing that pain. The spine is pinching on it when you move to give you more pain at times. To get rid of the pain you have to free the muscles up, then you can do anything else you desire, for the pain will be gone and here's how to free it up:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
