Back pain that won't go away no matter what, even percocet won't help.?!

Question: Back pain that won't go away no matter what, even percocet won't help.?
I keep getting muscle spasms and pain radiating up and down my back. It hurts so ******* bad that I can't even get out of bed. My boyfriend has suggested I try soaking in the tub, putting icy hot/bengay on it,massaging it,stretching, heating pad and ice, none of which have helped. To get to sleep I have to take sleep aids, two doses before I can sleep. The last times I went to the the doctor they x rayed and did an MRI which all came out clear. The doctor could clearly see I was in pain so he prescribed me Percoet(5mg) and told me to rest.

I don't like taking Percocet because of the way it makes me feel(chest starts to hurt, light headed and dizzy). Plus it doesn't make the pain go away enough and I'd rather not depend on taking that stuff because of the risk of addiction. I'm miserable in pain like this.

Should I go see a specialist of some sort(what kind)? Should I ask for physical therapy or something? Help me please =(

You might be suffering from sciatica which is a condition in which one of you spinal nerves gets pinched between two disks and results in severe back pain,I know that this can be quite challenging to deal with and cannot be detected on MRI ,only a radiography of your rachis could evidence any disk misplacement resulting in the condition. So you might wish to talk to your doctor about this possibility. In order to deal with the pain you seem to have a positive attitude as you are somewhat hostile to narcotics which can lead to adiction and reduce the efficency of other pain medecines.Keep breathing correctly and listen to your boyfriend when he tells you to apply a source of heat to your back it could do a lot to help it is safe and natural.
Good Luck.

try YOGA. under the guidance of a good master.

it'll helpful to you

OK so you know percocet is almost like throwing a handful of asprins at a guy with a broken leg when it comes to back pain. Icyhot patches do work but the biggest thing is to try to maintain your ROM (range of movement) or it will become stiff and even worse. Yes physical therapy is a very good idea. It will hurt. But they will evaluate you and then begin to work on maintaining your muscle and skeletal posture so that the pain will be eased and you have less chance of hurting it repeatedly (which is very common for back pain sufferers). As far as meds go most drs prescribe cortisone shots or an opiate such as lorecet or vicoden for back pain temporarily. Yes be warned they are addictive, but back pain is no joke. Even while you are under the care of a therapist after your sessions the pain may be very bad but its tricky that way you have to make it hurt to get it better. Another warning do not take meds such as lorecet vicoden ect and feel better and think it is ok to go about your daily rituals, your back will never forgive you. Hope all turns out well.

It started out as a tight muscle that caused pain once in a while to a full blown pinched muscle which is giving you pain all the time. You don't need to have a one big event causing you to get pinched muscles, you can wake up in the morning after sleeping wrong and have them, some even end up with them after sex, males and females. But that is the number one thing that causes back pain, pinched muscles. To get rid of the pain the muscles have to be freed up and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
