Are these "brain jolts" anything out of the ordinary?!

Question: Are these "brain jolts" anything out of the ordinary?
I regularly experience what can only be described as "brain jolts". The feeling is very similar to being suddenly startled, the way one is when a bug or something appears directly in front of your face unexpectedly and your brain and body reflex automatically. I will experience this without any external stimulus and the accompanying body jerk ranges from mild (just head and neck tensing), to quite pronounced.

These are not just muscle twitches. I can clearly feel the "moment" originate in my head, followed by my muscles jerking an instant later, almost in a fight/flight reflex.

So I wondered if any of you neuro boffins could shed some light on this odd but seemingly harmless "brain jolt"?? Thanks!!

Answers:

Antidepressants cause brain shocks like this.

Don't know anything else that will, maybe MDMA (Ecstacy)

Have you used anything like this ?

Got these when I was on Antidepressants. Most people seem to refer to them as Brain Zaps.
