Horrible click in my left ear when I swallow.?!

Question: Horrible click in my left ear when I swallow.?
I've had it a few days now and it gets worse when I run. It only stops when I put ear plugs in. It's not painful but very uncomfortable and annoying. I know it's nothing to worry about but it's making me irate.

Answers:

do you find that your hearing in that ear is a little muffled? or when you open and close your jaw, as well as swallowing, you hear the click? this could be simply be an earwax build up in the ear. I am saying this from experience because it has also happened to me on a few occasions! just try gentle cleaning that ear with a cotton bud or try putting a few drops of olive oil into that ear and waiting a few minutes before rinsing it away. However, it will usually go on its own within a few more days.
If none of this helps, just go to your doctor and get it checked out

Never put things in your ear unless you know the eardrum is intact.
Have you had a cold recently?
Possibility ETD, Eustachian tube dysfunction!

The middle ear is connected to the back of the nose by a short narrow tube, the Eustachian tube. This tube normally opens when we yawn or swallow to allow secretions to drain from the middle ear. It also keeps air pressure equal both sides of the eardrum.
Think how taking off and landing in a plane can affect ears.

A cold or allergy can block the Eustachian tube due to congestion in the nasal lining. This prevents the normal flow of fluid from the middle ear.

Try an antihistamine, take your pharmacist's advice as some make people drowsy.
