Referral for pain management clinics. Please answer!?!

My dr let me go. The note says that she wants to treat people on an urgent care basis, not chronic pain and to make other pm arrangements. She gave me a list of the drs in town that treat chronic pain. They're all filled up. I posted my med history earlier so I don't want to again unless it gets me a better answer. I've been calling up ALL drs offices all day, I'm wiped. I found a pain clinic that will take me, IF I have a dr referral. What exactly does a dr referral say? I'm scared to ask for one even though my records are fine
