Blood on Q-tip from left ear?!

Question: Blood on Q-tip from left ear?

i cleaned my ear just now and saw a bit of blood (around half of the cotton tip with it). i didnt go in far where it would rupture the ear drum but when i checked for more blood with the other side of the Q-tip, there wasn't any blood on it, not even a tiny spec. Is this bad or is it normal?

It's not "normal" but it's not necessarily bad either. It is possible you may have had a scratch or something. Keep an eye on it if there is continued bleeding call your doctor. even if it doesn't though, you really should not be sticking things in your ear without proper training. Even I don't do it now and didn't like to do it to my troops. Even though I have the training I'm still not real comfortable doing that all these years later. As you mentioned you could puncture the eardrum and you could also push more wax down into the ear canal than you are getting out. If wax is the issue there are plenty of remedies at your local pharmacy, but a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide will work just as well. Tilt your head and let it work for a few minutes then drain it out onto a tissue or I prefer a cotton ball.
