belly button hurts? help?!

Question: Belly button hurts? help?
so my belly button has been hurting. it hurts at the very top of it, moving to the right a bit, & a little bit of an inch out words. i also have a cough that's going around, & i know what to do about that, already. i think i might also be getting a cold, because i've been sneezing for a day, or two, now. i'm 13 years of age. it hurts the most when i touch it, & when i lay down, or whenever i put pressure onto it. it's been hurting for about four days now. any advice, home remedies, or help? thanks guys. ?

Answers:

Have you told your parents about this? I would strongly advise you to tell them now and get this checked. It may just be a virus but it could also be appendicitis. Appendicitis pain usually starts around your belly button and then moves outward and down into the lower right part of your abdomen or stomach. You may not always run a fever. Please tell your parents to get you checked as soon as possible just in case. As for the sneezing and cough, pollen levels are very high in the South East and other places in the U.S. so you may be reacting to tree pollen.
Again, I can not stress strongly enough to please get your belly button pain checked as soon as possible. In fact I would suggest going to the Emergency Room.

Get it checked as soon as possible just to be on the safe side. Do not press on the area until you have it checked.

I agree with Granny Jo. Douglas has the same advice for everything and in this case it could be harmful. I wish there was some way to let others know that he is basically copying and pasting the same advice onto every question. Please disregard his advice.

That sounds like you have tight muscles in your back pressing onto the nerves going to your intestines just inside of your belly button to make that area very tender. To get rid of the pains you are having you have to free up the muscles in your back and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Douglas has been answering all the pain questions with the same answer. Although the exercise/stretch is a good one, it isn't the answer for everything.
