MCL partial tear/stretch?!

Question: MCL partial tear/stretch?
i went to a walk-in clinic for my knee, just to get a basic diagnosis. she said it was a partial tear or a stretched ligament. my problem is she really didn't do much to test it. how reliable would this be? im going to go to my regular doctor as well, but she wasn't available today.
also, what would be an injury with similar symptoms?

Answers:

An injury to the medial collateral ligament may occur as an isolated injury, or it may be part of a complex injury to the knee. Other ligaments, most commonly the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), or the meniscus (cartilage), may be torn along with a medial collateral ligament injury.
