You could say it's a tattoo gone wrong or a nest of insects growing under the skin or that you have a new pet eagle that likes to sit on your arm but is rather heavy and left the bruise.
Tell them you had yourself bleed by a tick.
Barbers used to do this years ago for what was believed a way to treat certain problems.
Just act a bit sheepish and say.... "I... fell, I fell... and tripped down the stairs, then I fell in the shower"
