I had a massage on monday. Nothing hurt before but now everything hurts.?!

Question: I had a massage on monday. Nothing hurt before but now everything hurts.?
Monday and tuesday i had a massage
nothing hurt before the massage
wednesday i had a workout...full body like usual...nothing out of the ordinary. usually i can deadlift 165kg 3 reps
this time i couldnt lift 95kg more than 5 times
since then my lower back kills.
is it permanent?
how do i fix it?

Answers:

Yeah, that's pretty typical of massage. This is one of the reasons I don't practice it any more or ever get them myself.

But don't worry, it's not permanent! I haven't seen a good explanation of why it happens (the "lactic acid" and "toxin" theories have been soundly debunked). Just give your body a little rest and time and it will heal itself. The more you can do absolutely nothing the more the muscles can repair themselves. You'll probably find you need more sleep right now. It's just your body shutting down to fix itself.

Most people will say "drink water, it will flush out the toxins". Drinking water is fine but studies show it doesn't flush out toxins or help relieve muscle soreness.

And by all means, avoid massage! It is a waste of money and often hurts more than it helps!
