Thought I would give Answers a shot. I've been having pain?!

Question: Thought I would give Answers a shot. I've been having pain?
I am a 17 year old female, at a healthy weight, and 5'6. Since January 13 I have been having excruciating pain in my lower right abdomen. I have had 2 CT scans, a vaginal and abdominal ultrasound, 2 pelvic exams, and x-rays taken of my lower abdomen. I have also had laproscopic exploratory surgery with my appendix taken out. All of my organs are above-average healthy. I am not overweight and I am very active, although I haven't been since January, obviously. I have normal bowel movements every day, and they have ruled out IBS and Chron's disease. The doctors have ruled out gallbladder problems, my appendix was tested and was healthy, I do not have chlamydia, or any other STD. Next up, I see a gastroenterologist, who will look at my intestines. I usually take (and have taken all these medications for two or more years, except for welbutrin which was prescribed in october) Lamictal for bipolar disorder, singular and claritin for allergies, iron, vitamin b and calcium supplements. I was prescribed oxycontin now, and I can feel the pain even when I take the maximum dose. My pain is never lower than a 4 on a scale of 1-10. I am looking for any answers. If it means anything, I had a lot of nausea after the surgery, for two weeks, until I was given nausea pills, now that is under control. My dad thinks I have an intestinal ulcer, I am under a lot of stress but no more than I've had for several years. It is constant pain, and does not lessen with food or water intake, nor bowel movements. It is ALWAYS there. I am not lying, I am not having "ghost pain" (that is supposed to end up to a week after surgery, it has been four weeks now, with no change in the pain) It is not because of the surgery, the pain has not changed. I am really at a loss. I have become depressed and I have had to drop classes due to my condition. Is there anything that anyone can suggest, so when I see the doctor again I can give some idea? Anything helps. Thank you.

Answers:

Unfortunately, there are lots of causes for abdominal pain in adolescent and young adult women; this makes diagnosis a real pain in the rear (though at least it is somewhere else for a while). I know what you are going through, since I suffered for 6 years from an undiagnosed abdominal pain; it can be exhausting not only to deal with the pain, but also the people. After a while, some doctors just give up and call you crazy... anyways, you should consider asking for a full intestinal flora analysis; there are only a couple of labs in the U.S. that are really good at detecting parasites, most others don't tend to get good results. That is one possibility, as is a GIST tumor, ulcer, bacterial imbalance or infection, or even a section of necrotic bowel. All I can really offer you is some encouragement. Don't give up, even though it is exhausting. You will find the cause, and it will be treatable, and there is a solution. Good luck.

Sounds like "Diverticulosis"? Search it up.

just a thought. any chance anything could have been left in there from the surgery thats not supposed to be there? something that can be overlooked at times. just a thought. also what about the possibility of eptoptic pregnancy(if you are active physically with someone where you could get pregnant)?
