Jammed finger still hurts months after accident?!

Question: Jammed finger still hurts months after accident?
I jammed my right index finger about 3 times within a span of a few weeks (what kind of luck) playing basketball a few months ago. There is a slight lingering pain, it's definitely not excruciating but some discomfort if I press down on something or if I try to curl my hand into a fist. In fact, I can't even curl my finger completely, the mobility gets really stiff and pressure against it builds up quick. Also, I've jammed other fingers before but this one is noticeably more swollen than my left index finger (but not super fat like a fresh sprain). I don't think I broke it because I'm pretty sure I would be in a lot more pain and there would be discoloration.

What do you guys think? Is it just a jam, or something worse?

Answers:

Andrew, definitely see a doctor. As with any injury, icing the injury early and often will help with swelling, and for me usually minimizes the swelling, bruising and pain. Your injury should be diagnosed and treated. Above all, keep from further injury while it heals. This type of pain is not something you want to be dealing with for the rest of your life.

I think you might need to see the doctor. You might not broke it but maybe bend it. Ask the doctor.

Check with your doctor. Sounds like nerve damage.
