I am worried about the small possiblitlity of getting appendicitis?!

Question: I am worried about the small possiblitlity of getting appendicitis?
I read somwhere that 1 in 15 people get appendicitis, but i cant help but think -"what if i am that person who gets it"
I was recently watching a programme and a guy had a scar on his right lower side. My mum said he had his appendix removed. Ever scince i have been constantly worrying about the small possibility of getting appendiciis - vomiting, extreme pains, and being cut through on an operation to get an appendix removed. This factor worrys me the most as i am very quemish (like fainting at sight of blood etc) and would hate a scar to remind me. I know it probably wont happen, but there is always an Element of worry. It is ridiculous i kno but can someone help me. I would real appreciate it thx

Answers:

What you saw was an old style appendix scar. Unless your appendix is really close to bursting - like mine was because the ER doctor didn't diagnose the problem and they had to get it out immediately - the operation is done with small incisions you see in most abdominal surgeries today. And as far as the pain, it's definitely not the worst thing in the world. It hurt a lot more when I sprained my ankle. Most people go home a day or two after the operation with a minor painkiller, if necessary. Unless you smoke, the scars will be almost invisible.

So, unless you're one of the very few that have complications, you would find that's it's not so bad.

Personal experience.

thats not true.According to statistics, appendicitis affects about 6-7 percent of the population in the United States and Europe. so only about 6 % of the population get it. think of all the billions of people in the world your chance is small. and now the scar for getting it out is about 1/2 an inch, technology has improved. also it is more common is really young children like 3 to 7 years old
