Question: Can anyone give me some reassurance on my fear of getting appendicitis and needing operations?

My friend recently broke his arm badly and he said he was put on anasthetic. He said he could feel the cold sensation running up his arm (i am very squeamish) and he felt dizzy. He was knocked out and when he woke, he found red spots on his broken arm. Fair enough, it didnt hurt for him. When my mum said he had tubes inserted into his mouth and into his lungs, i started to freak out, wondering if the same would happen to me. Thats why i worry of pain in my body - incase i need an operation. I know its silly. Can anyone give me some reassurance? Thx.

Nobody can give you an assurance like that. The one thing you can be sure of is that you don't feel any of the pain that you are thinking you do. You are put to sleep before they insert anything into you so you never feel it. It's like taking a nap and when you wake up it's all over with already. You have to think about all the ways they have that make it so painless for I tell you what, if you have an appendicitis attack you will be glad to let them do any surgery for any pain from a needle or the surgery is going to be a lot less than the pain from the appendix at that point. Surgery pain is gone shortly the other pains can kill you, you can't even try to compare the two for which is the lesser of the two evils to figure out which one you would take.
