Severe arm pain, help?!

Question: Severe arm pain, help?
So yesterday afternoon, I was simply working on a school project. Nothing out of the ordinary or strenuous at all. My arm started to feel a tad cramped but didn't hurt when i moved it. Within a few hours, it became very painful. I isolated the pain to be in my upper arm, but when I move even just a little, it radiates down my whole arm and in my right shoulder. So I went to sleep with hopes it will feel better in the morning, but it hurts just as much. I've never experienced such debilitating pain before. The sensation kind of feels like someone is picking at my muscles with an ice pick. I just don't understand what is causing this pain. I'm only 21, I wasn't doing anything strenuous when the pain started, and it seems to be getting worse. Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions of what I should do? I'm not a fan of waiting at the doctors for them to tell me to just rest it, which isn't exactly an option for me.

Answers:

I'm no doctor, but it sounds to me like a pinched nerve. I'm not sure how to make it go away except rest it for a few days.

(As a doctor would say... $50 please ;-))

Well I am sorry you don't like the doctors, but who does!

You obviously do need to see the specialists and you should do it quickly. Severe arm pain is one of the symptoms of a stroke for instance. Not saying that is what you have but you obviously need to be checked over very quickly.
