If the medial cuneiform (bone found in midfoot) is fractured, what would it look!

Question: If the medial cuneiform (bone found in midfoot) is fractured, what would it look like on an x-ray?
And what would it look like on a CT scan?

Answers:

OK already!! Are you an intern?! Give me a few minutes and I'll' go through my books and see what I can find! Sheesh!
1)it will depend on the fracture-if it is a non-displaced fracture all you will see is the fracture line-not much reason or expense to CT this. As this is "the big toe" fracture unless in children are not hard to miss. This type of fracture will require a cast but can eventually be downgraded to a cast shoe.
2) if it is a displaced fracture that may require a CT as if the displacement is bad enough it may require a pin there fore surgery. What it would look like in an xray depends on the fracture so that one is not easy to answer-it may be bent in the wrong direction and trust me that one you will see on a plain film!
Your initial xray order would be for a weight bearing DP view and a weight bearing lateral view.
If weight bearing is not an option then you would do a non weight bearing medial and lateral view.
Then go to the CT if needed. If you need more help on your assignment I am going to bed shortly as I had a long shift and it is 0520 where I live! After all this you OWE me the ten points!! Just kidding. Will check back before I head of to bed.
