Can't get to Dr. before Monday next week. Need help now, what can I do?!

Question: Can't get to Dr. before Monday next week. Need help now, what can I do?
I'm at work and am out of sick time until June, unless I want to loose my job, I can't take any more sick time. This morning, I was washing a bowl to make scrambled eggs in, and as I was scrubbing, some hard piece of food that was on the bottom of the bowl lodged itself between my fingernail and nail bed. It hurt really bad at the time but started to subside as I continued to make breakfast. Then on my commute into work, it really started throbbing. When I got to work, my finger tip was swollen. It's now very red, the fingernail is throbbing where there's a pulse you can actually see through the nail itself, and it hurts like he11 to type (My job is a live online chatter, so typing is my job). There are no take-care clinics around here. I tried to remove the debris in my nail, but it's in there deep I can't get to it. It seems to be getting worse the longer I let it go. I tried putting a band-aid on it earlier, and that didn't help at all. I just iced it. It's still swollen and throbbing. If I loose my job, then I won't have insurance to pay for a Dr. visit at all. So what should I do?

Answers:

Depends on where you are living. You might have to go to the ER. Show your employer, they might send you and not charge it against you.
