Bite still itching?
Last summer I got bit by a small wasp looking insect, and the bite still is red and extrememly itchy.
Is this serious?

I'd say it is pretty severe as if it has lasted a year it might have been infected or something and flares up from time to time. Try dabbing in a bit of savlon cream - it's good for bites and is antiseptic but do go and have a chat with your doc.
