Lump on throat?!

Hello. Okay, I woke up this morning with a lump on my throat. I don't feel sick, and I don't think I have any infections or fresh cuts. I was looking at diagrams of where lymph nodes are and it doesn't seem to be where this one is. It is right above where my "adam's apple" would be... and well... I don't even know if girl's have those, Lol. It's on my actual throat above that spot... but seems a little too low to be considered under my jaw, I'm really not sure though. It is painful to the touch.. but not too bad. It is probably the size of a medium size olive. I've had swollen glands on the side of my neck before... just not where this lump is and so I'm not sure of what it is. Any Ideas?
Note: I do not have health insurance, so I am hoping to find out here if it isn't anything serious... otherwise I'll have to take one for the team and go anyways.

it could be a thyroid problem & it should really be checked.
you might have a thyroid tumor, that's about where the thyroid sits. it's also possible that you have a goiter & just need some thyroid medication.
I would certainly go see a doctor about this one.
