What To Do About Stitches?!

Question:

What To Do About Stitches?

How long should they stay in? The wound is about an inch and a half long but is very deep. There are six stitches. Oh, and how should I be taking care of it? I clean it with alcohol, put neosporin on it, and put a clean bandage on it every 8 hours or so.

I didn't want to add this, but I guess its relevant. I put the stitches in myself, so they aren't going to dissolve and going to a doctor is not an option.

For Christs Sake woman!!! You mean to tell us you had the supplies and enough skill to stich yourself up and enough knowledge to properly clean the wound but you need to come out here and ask when to take the damn things out. I call bullshit on this one folks<<

Its common sense to flush a wound with alcohol and its not that hard to pick up a needle and thread. Just because I can sew doesnt mean I have any medical training, idiot.

Answers:

I would leave them in for 10 days. You are doing great in taking care of the wound. If they don't dissolve, you can remove them yourself with small scissors and tweezers. Just don't try to pull the knot through the skin. Good luck.
