Question:
Dr. said I tore the collaterol ligament of my right index finger. Said xray not needed. could it be a break?
It hurts so bad if I go to grab something like the steering wheel in my car that it nearly drops me to my knees. I think it is an avulsion but not sure. Any ideas?

torn ligaments are extremely painful and will not show on an xray. an "avulsion" of your finger would more than likely show protusion of the bone through the skin. if you are concerned, get a second opinion.....a torn ligament however will generally be more painful than a fracture.
